The AdvisoryNetPEST project will be presented at Agroecology Day, an annual event organised by the Sant’Anna School of Advanced Studies and the University of Pisa at their experimental facilities.
Designed to connect experts, stakeholders, and younger audiences with the field of agroecology, the event provides a strong platform for sharing innovative agricultural approaches. It also offers an ideal opportunity to engage with a network of advisors interested in the novel practices being tested and demonstrated directly in experimental fields.
Demonstrating innovative agroecological approaches
A central focus of the event is the presentation of a novel approach based on permanent living mulches and strip tillage, applied as cornerstones for integrating organic and conservative agriculture in Mediterranean cereal-based cropping systems controlling weeds and shifting weed community composition.
This approach addresses key challenges in sustainable farming, particularly the need to manage weeds effectively while improving resilience in Mediterranean agricultural systems.
Interactive format and practical learning
Agroecology Day will combine several formats, including farm demonstrations, field visits, presentations and group discussions.
Participants will have the opportunity to visit experimental fields and observe how permanent living mulches and strip tillage function in practice. The programme also allows attendees to learn about the real costs and opportunities of diversifying production systems, while exchanging experiences and solutions with experts and other advisors.
Target audience and participation
The event is aimed at a broad audience, including advisors, researchers, university and school students, farmers and other stakeholders such as agricultural professionals and policy influencers interested in agroecology and innovative field practices.
By bringing together different profiles, Agroecology Day fosters dialogue and knowledge exchange across the agricultural sector.
Event details

Supporting sustainable agriculture in Europe
Through its presence at Agroecology Day, AdvisoryNetPEST continues to promote practical, field-based solutions that support the transition towards more sustainable and resilient agricultural systems.
The event highlights how collaboration between researchers, advisors and practitioners can accelerate the adoption of agroecological practices and contribute to reducing reliance on pesticides across Europe.
