Exploring the potential of agricultural drones
The use of agricultural drones is still far from reaching its full potential within the farming sector. To address this gap, a technical seminar organised in Castelnaudary, France, will provide a comprehensive overview of how drones can support and enhance agricultural practices.
Taking place on 30 June 2026 at the Agricampus de Castelnaudary, this training and demo event aims to help advisors, farmers and agricultural stakeholders better understand the opportunities, limitations and practical conditions for adopting drone technology.
A pragmatic approach to drone use in agriculture
While the use of agricultural drones is relatively recent, their potential applications are expanding rapidly. Drone-based imaging enables detailed observation of crop plots, generating data that can be combined with precision technologies such as spot spraying.
However, in regions such as Occitanie, the adoption of these tools remains limited due to their cost and the need for clearer knowledge of their added value. This event will address these challenges by offering a realistic, experience-based perspective rather than promoting one-size-fits-all solutions.
Participants will explore how different types of drones—including seeders, sprayers, thermal and multispectral systems—can contribute to optimising inputs, saving time and maintaining farm profitability.
Programme: from regulatory frameworks to field experience
The seminar will bring together expertise, demonstrations and exchanges with practitioners to provide a structured learning experience.
The morning session will focus on the operational realities of agricultural drones and the regulatory framework in France and internationally. Through lectures and demonstrations, participants will gain a clearer understanding of the legal and technical conditions required for drone use.
In the afternoon, thematic workshops will centre on feedback from agricultural stakeholders, offering insight into real-life applications and constraints. These sessions will create a space for discussion, enabling participants to address their specific needs and challenges.

Supporting advisors and farmers in drone adoption
A key objective of the event is to strengthen the capacity of agricultural advisors to support farmers in adopting drone technologies. Participants will learn how to assess the relevance of drones for different farming systems, identify the necessary skills, and explore available training opportunities.
The seminar will also address organisational aspects, helping stakeholders understand what is required to integrate drones effectively into daily agricultural operations.
By the end of the event, attendees are expected to gain a clearer understanding of the conditions for successful implementation of agricultural drones and their role in future farming systems.
Event information
The event is open to all professionals in the agricultural sector, including advisors, farmers and other stakeholders engaged in agricultural innovation.
It is organised by the Regional Chamber of Agriculture of Occitanie in partnership with Agricampus de Castelnaudary.
