In preparation for the upcoming Dutch cross-visit under the AdvisoryNetPEST project, we had the pleasure of visiting the Plantenkwekerij Kapteijns BV, where Piet will be our host.
Welkom bij Plantenkwekerij Kapteijns BV! This family-run nursery has built up years of experience in growing high-quality young plants with a focus on innovation and sustainability. Piet, as the driving force behind the company, combines traditional farming knowledge with modern techniques to meet today’s environmental and market demands.
What makes this farm especially inspiring is Piet’s conviction that reducing pesticide use is truly possible without compromising the quality of the crop. Through careful monitoring, integrated pest management strategies, and a strong commitment to continuous learning, Piet shows how farmers can make real progress toward more sustainable production.
During the cross-visit, participants will not only have the chance to see these practices in action but also to exchange ideas directly with Piet and learn about the concrete challenges and solutions he has developed over the years. His openness to share knowledge and experiences embodies the spirit of the AdvisoryNetPEST project: connecting farmers, advisors, researchers, and policymakers to promote a healthier, more resilient agricultural system.
We’re excited to bring together professionals from different countries, spark new conversations, and explore practical pathways to reduce pesticide use while maintaining productivity and quality.
