In an effort to expedite the green and digital transition in agriculture while ensuring social fairness, the EIP-AGRI Support Facility organized a seminar on February 21-22, 2024, focusing on skills and lifelong learning for advisory and training service providers in the agriculture sector. The event aimed to exchange knowledge and identify best practices to bolster lifelong learning within the Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation Systems (AKIS).
Throughout the two-day event, participants engaged in interactive sessions that explored existing and new methods for effective training and skill provision. These sessions highlighted inspiring examples from Austria, Estonia, Malta, and others, demonstrating innovative training delivery and skills development approaches. The discussions emphasized the importance of enhancing the attractiveness of lifelong learning for advisors, trainers, farmers, and foresters, with insights from Belgium and Germany on successful strategies. The seminar also delved into opportunities and support mechanisms available through the CAP and other EU measures. Presentations from Italy, the Netherlands, Bulgaria, and Greece offered practical examples of how different regions are leveraging EU resources to support advisory and training services, making the information more relatable to the readers.
On the second day, a poster session showcased EU-funded projects, including AdvisoryNetPEST, which was an excellent opportunity to showcase the project’s objectives and expected impact and engage with stakeholders from across Europe. This event provided a platform for the AdvisoryNetPEST team to present their work to a broader audience and receive feedback from key stakeholders.
The EU CAP Network event underscored the critical role of continuous learning and skill development in driving the agricultural sector’s transition towards sustainability and digitalization. Through knowledge exchange and collaborative efforts, stakeholders are better equipped to meet the evolving challenges and opportunities within the agricultural landscape.
