Trainings in Cereal Diseases Management

May 12, 2025

During the months of March and April coinciding with the end of winter and beginning of spring, INTIA develops its programme of trainings focusing in the management of cereal diseases. Trainings are aimed at farmers and are being held in different locations along the region, covering different agroclimatic areas and crop conditions.

During the course farmers improve their knowledge on different pathologies affecting cereals, develop tools to identify symptoms and share its knowledge and management strategies. These kind of trainings are a valuable tool in achieving a more efficient use of phytosanitary products and reduce its risk. They are an opportunity to explain the benefits and share success cases of alternative managements as crop rotations, genetic tolerance to diseases, or other agronomic managements related with fertilization, sowing dates, tillage, that can help in reduce the impact of crop diseases.

An important part of the trainings is field visits, which allow practicing symptoms identification and discussing about strategies with real situations.  In that part, involvement of farmers in selecting interesting plots is crucial and allows visiting representative situation of the area, or innovative managements being tested by farmers.
